About Affiliated Hospital of Zunyi Medical University
Affiliated Hospital of Zunyi Medical University (AHZMU) is the first Class A tertiary general hospital and one of the provincial regional medical centers in Guizhou province. It located in a historically and culturally famous city, Zunyi and used to be Dalian Medical University Hospital (DMUH). According to the decision of State Council, it was relocated in Zunyi in May 1969 to support the development of southwestern China and renamed Affiliated Hospital of Zunyi Medical University.
The total construction area of the hospital reaches 240,000 square meters. The number of inpatient beds is 2000, while the hospital offered in practice 3500 beds. There are 21 administrative departments, 46 clinical departments, and 14 technological departments. There are 3,696 employees in AHZMU until June 2018, including 694 with senior titles, 124 with doctorate holders, 212 master supervisors, 4 middle-aged and young experts with outstanding contribution under the NHFPC, 16 enjoying the special subsidy of the State Council, and 19 Provincial Core Experts and Provincial Experts. In the first half year of 2018, there are 1.11million outpatients and emergencies, 64.4 thousand discharged patients and 54.8 thousand operations. The average days of hospitalization is 9.31.
In AHZMU there are 8 specialized hospitals (Guizhou Geriatric Rehabilitation Hospital, Guizhou Ophthalmic Hospital, Guizhou Aesthetic Plastic Surgery Hospital, Guizhou Children Hospital, Tumor Hospital, Orthopedic Hospital, Digestive Diseases Hospital and Cardiovascular Diseases Hospital); 3 National Clinical Key Specialties (Anesthesiology, Plastic Surgery and Clinical Nursing); 3 provincial characteristic key disciplines (Internal Medicine, Anesthesiology and Clinical Medicine); 3 provincial key disciplines (Internal Medicine, Anesthesiology, and Surgery); 8 provincial key clinical disciplines/specialties (Anesthesiology, Gastroenterology, Chest and Cardiovascular Surgery, Burn and Plastic Surgery, Neurology, Pediatrics, Respiratory( TB) Division and Pediatric Surgery).

Having committed to developing leading-edge medical technologies, AHZMU develops over 100 new technological research projects and new medical programs and particularly achieves highly breakthrough and progress in the technical field of intervention, minimally invasive, Laparoscopy and endoscopy technology. Several are in the advanced level in Guizhou and even the southwestern China. The hospital pays highly attention to organ transplant. It has successfully carried out the first heart transplantation, first live kidney transplant operation, first DBCD liver transplantation, and first lung transplantation in Guizhou. In the first half year of 2018, the hospital carried out 34 cases of organ transplantation and donated 97 organs. It operated 32 cases of kidney transplant, 6 cases of heart transplant, 3 cases of lung transplant. The work of brain injury evaluation, organ donation and transplantation of the hospital plays a leading role in Guizhou, and has been awarded the title of “Advanced unit of organ contribution of Guizhou”.
AHZMU also carried out such various kinds of training for undergraduate & graduate students, medical residents, and extension program for advance students. There are 1 national demonstration center (Clinical Skills Teaching Demonstration Center), 3 national characteristic specialties (Clinical Medicine, Anesthesiology and Nursing), 1 national excellent course (Anesthetic Pharmacology), 2 master programs were accredited as first class discipline including Clinical Medicine and Nursing. 20 clinical departments provide master program, namely, internal medicine, surgery, obstetrics and gynecology, pediatrics, ophthalmology, otorhinolaryngology, neurology, psychiatric and mental health, dermatology and venereology, imaging and nuclear medicine, clinical laboratory diagnostics, oncology, anesthesiology, emergency medicine, intensive medicine and regenerative medicine, rehabilitation medicine and physical therapy, health service management, clinical pathology and general medicine.
As one of the first batch of national residency training base in Guizhou, the hospital has enrolled 201 trainees in the first half year of 2018 more than 2,000 in total, of which 497 graduated, and 1,151 in training, exceeding any training base in Guizhou in enrollment, trainee retention, graduation and budget. The hospital has ranked first for three successive years in Guizhou provincial supervision for residency training. Cardiovasology has been accredited as one of the first group to be the Specialized doctor standardization training base.
Over the last five years, AHZMU was awarded 112 projects by the Natural Science Foundation of China, more than 260 provincial and ministerial scientific research projects, 10 Provincial Science and Technology Innovation Teams, 39 science and technology achievement awards at different levels (15 of which are third prizes or above of ministerial and provincial-level). The hospital was continuously honored with the first prize of Guizhou Science and Technology Progress Award in 2015 and 2016. The hospital has continuously been top the hospital recipients of Natural Science Foundation of China in Guizhou for seven years.
The hospital is equipped with various kinds of advanced medical equipment, namely clinical linear accelerator, automatic testing line, 3.0 nuclear magnetic resonance, dual source CT （DSCT）and PET-CT. During recent two years, the equipment budget has reached 350 million. All these take an active role not only in improving the ability of overall medical treatment and emergency intensive care disposal but also in assuring clinical diagnosis and treatment.
